Deep Breath A dinosaur materialises in Victorian London and spits out the TARDIS onto the banks of the river Thames, from which emerges the freshly-regenerated Twelfth Doctor-suffering from post-regenerative trauma-and Clara Oswald. They are greeted by the Paternoster Gang, comprising of Silurian Madame Vastra, her human maid and wife Jenny, and Sontaran butler Strax. The Gang instruct the police on how to calm and contain the dinosaur and take the Doctor and Clara to their residence, where the Doctor rests and Vastra confronts Clara about her prejudiced attitude to the Doctor's changed face. Clara admits that she is struggling to adapt to the new Doctor, due to his stark difference to the old one, particularly his apparent age. The Doctor awakens to hear the dinosaur's pleas for help before it spontaneously combusts. The Doctor joins Clara and the Paternoster Gang at the river, and learns from Vastra that this is not the first incident of spontaneous combustion recently. The Doctor spots an unfazed man across the river and jumps in to investigate. Clara returns home with the others to start their own investigations hoping they will cross the Doctor's path. Read More! Robot of Sherwood Clara Oswald insists that the Doctor takes her to meet Robin Hood, despite the Doctor's claims that Robin Hood is only a legend. When the TARDIS lands in medieval England, they are met by a man that claims he is Robin Hood. The Doctor remains in disbelief even as Robin takes the two to meet his band of Merry Men. Clara enjoys her time there and learns that Robin is still looking for his Maid Marian, but the Doctor is convinced there is something wrong, and becomes distrustful of Robin.

Robin, his men, and the Doctor and Clara attend to an archery contest held by the Sheriff of Nottingham. Robin, disguised as Tom the Tinkerer, faces against the Sheriff in the final round to win the prize of a golden arrow. As legend states, Robin is able to best the Sheriff by splitting his arrow with his own shot. The Doctor suddenly appears and challenges the result, and readily splits Robin's arrow with his own. The two begin to challenge the other with more arrows until the Sheriff orders the competition to end, and sends his knights - which turn out to be disguised robots - to capture them. The Doctor lets the knight robots capture the three so he can learn more about the Sheriff's plans. Read More! (Caution spoilers!)

Listen Clara Oswald meets with fellow Coal Hill teacher Danny Pink for their first date. However, things take a turn for the worst when the subject of his time serving in the army comes up, and they both unintentionally offend the other with their lack of understanding. On her return home, she discovers the Doctor waiting for her, needing her help. Entering the TARDIS, he questions whether every living being has a constant companion, using the example of the 'dream' all children have in which a hand grabs them from under the bed at night. Clara initially dismisses this, but agrees to return to her childhood so they can investigate. She uses the TARDIS' telepathic link to try and lock on to the event, but, when her mind strays to Danny, they end up in a children's home in Gloucester in the mid 1990s, where Clara is shocked to meet Rupert Pink; Danny, as a child, before he changed his name.

Clara tries to convince Rupert that there is nothing under his bed, as he sits away from it in fear. They crawl underneath, only for something to sit on the bed above them, despite Rupert claiming that no one else has entered the room while they have been talking. On emerging, they discover a figure underneath Rupert's blankets, and the Doctor, who suddenly appears, demands that they turn away from it and promise that they will not look at it. They do so, and it vanishes out of the door. Inspiring Rupert to be fearless using toy soldiers underneath his bed as 'protection', she unintentionally inspires his later name, Danny, and his career choice, when Rupert names the lead soldier Dan. Time Heist Speaking about the premise for the episode, director Douglas Mackinnon said "What we wanted to do was a heist movie for Doctor Who. I've watched virtually every heist movie there's ever been, and it incorporates things into it, but because it's Doctor Who, time travel is involved."

The Doctor tries to convince Clara to come with him for a day sightseeing in the TARDIS but she is about to go on a date with Danny Pink. The TARDIS phone begins to ring, and despite Clara's protestations The Doctor answers the phone. Suddenly the two find themselves in a strange chamber with two other people. They are revealed to be Psi, a hacker with an augmented brain; and Saibra, a mutant humanoid with the ability to shapeshift. The four listen to a recording of their voices revealing that they agreed to wipe their memories. They discover a briefcase left by a shadowy person named "The Architect". When opened, the briefcase reveals plans to rob the impregnable vaults of the Bank of Karabraxos. The group takes tools provided in the cases and flee the room as guards come after them. Stranded without the TARDIS and with no memory as to why they agreed to rob the bank, the foursome agree to follow the Architect's instructions. As they work through the plan, the Doctor learns that Psi has previously erased his own memories in his cybernetic hardware to protect his loved ones. He also learns that Saibra finds her shapeshifting ability a curse as she immediately shifts whenever she touches another person, preventing her from having romantic relationships. Read More! The Caretaker The episode begins with Clara trying to maintain two separate lives and relationships, one as The Doctor's companion and the other as a school teacher with a romantic interest in Danny Pink. During the unseen adventures they encounter sand piranhas and fish people, and are chased through the TARDIS by something shooting lasers at them.

While getting ready for the next adventure, The Doctor declines to take Clara, saying he is going deep undercover.

At Coal Hill School, in the staff room, the headmaster announces that the caretaker is ill and that they have a temporary replacement, John Smith, presenting The Doctor.

Meanwhile outside an abandoned building, a Police officer berates two truanting pupils and sends them off to school. A noise from within the the house concerns him, he explores the house and encounters the Skovox, it vaporizes him with green lasers.

The Doctor reveals to Clara that there is a alien military life form present that could destroy the planet and that he is working on a plan to displace it a billion years into the future, where it can't harm anyone. The Doctor also shows Clara a watch he will use to appear invisible and avoid detection by the alien. Read More! (Caution spoilers!)

Kill the Moon After the events of "The Caretaker", Clara Oswald warns The Doctor that her student, Courtney Woods, is still interested in his TARDIS and is trying to clean up the mess inside it she made previously. As they enter the TARDIS, the Doctor stops Courtney from cleaning and offers to take her and Clara on a trip in the time machine.

They arrive in 2049 on a Space Shuttle filled with nuclear devices on crash course with the Moon. They survive the crash and while the Doctor is curious as to higher-than-expected gravity they are experiencing, the three are met by Captain Lundvik and two other astronauts. After dismissing the Doctor's attempt to call their presence as a school trip, Lundvik explains they are on a suicide mission to blow up the Moon; she explains that years prior, there was a sudden mass high tide, wiping out a significant fraction of humanity and taking out many of Earth's artificial satellites. Mankind abandoned scientific advancement for sake of survival of the species, a decision Lundvik regretted as she was poised to help lead a major space program prior to the disaster. A Mexican colony on the Moon had reported changes in the Moon before Earth lost contact with them, leading scientists to believe the problem existed there. They surmised that by destroying the Moon, they will be able to save humanity from further harm. In private, Clara tries to ask the Doctor about this point in time, knowing that in future events she has witnessed the Moon is still there; the Doctor reveals this is a fluxed moment in time, the actions yet to be decided, and he is unable to become involved in those choices. Mummy on the Orient Express Following from Clara's admission that she does not want to see the Doctor again after the events of "Kill the Moon", several weeks have passed, and Clara realises she doesn't hate the Doctor, and allows him to take her on one "last hurrah". He takes her via the TARDIS to a space-bound recreation of the Orient Express with passengers dressed in period pieces, all controlled by the computerized operator, Gus. Aboard the train, they find that an elderly woman, Mrs. Pitt, had recently died, claiming that she was attacked by a mummy that no one else could see. They retire to separate cabins for the evening, where Clara calls Danny in her present and gets advice how to properly end her relationship with the Doctor. She later encounters Maisie, Mrs. Pitt's granddaughter, who is distraught over the death and frustrated with the inability to see her body. The two get trapped in the luggage car, where a mummy's sarcophagus sits, and the two talk and bond while waiting for help.

Meanwhile, the Doctor, claiming he is a mystery shopper, starts to investigate the murder, meeting the train's engineer Perkins who is also curious about the death as well as the nature of the train. The Doctor speaks to Professor Moorhouse, who explains about the mummy that is being transported on the train, and the myth that once lights flicker nearby, the mummy will take its victim 66 seconds later, which they are able to confirm when the train's chef dies in a similar manner as Mrs. Pitt. The Doctor discovers Clara's situation but when he tries to rescue her, the lights flicker and the sarcophagus opens; before he can save her, Captain Quell and his men arrest him for falsifying his credentials. When the 66 seconds are up, they find that one of the Captain's men has dead instead. The Captain, realizing the Doctor was right, releases him. Read More! (Caution spoilers!)

Flatline On returning Clara to London, the Doctor finds something is draining energy from the TARDIS and they end up in Bristol instead. They find the TARDIS' exterior size has shrunk as a result of the energy drain, and the Doctor sends Clara out to learn more while he tries to stop the drainage. Clara befriends Rigsy, a graffiti artist now performing community service with a small crew. Rigsy explains several people have gone missing recently, their disappearances memorialized by a mural in a pedestrian tunnel painted by an unknown person. Clara returns to find the TARDIS has shrunk even farther, with the Doctor unable to physically get out. He passes her his sonic screwdriver, psychic paper, and an earpiece to let him communicate with her, and asks her to carry the TARDIS with her as she rejoins Rigsy, taking on the role of "Doctor Oswald" and adopting several of the Doctor's mannerisms.

At the flat of the latest disappearance (who is shown taken in the cold opener) they find nothing amiss save for a strange mural of a desert on one wall. With help of PC Forrest, they enter the flat of the first disappearance, and the Doctor instructs them to tear out a wall believing the source is within. In the next room, PC Forrest is suddenly absorbed into the floor, and by the time Clara and Rigsy arrive, she is gone. The Doctor is drawn to another wall mural, and realises it is the shape of a human nervous system, suspecting that is the fate of PC Forrest; he concludes the desert mural in the other flat was a close-up of the skin of the last victim. He deduces that they are being attacked by creatures that live in two dimensions, which he later names the Boneless, trying to experiment in understanding the third dimension. The Boneless trap the two in the room by flattening the door handle to two dimensions, but Clara and Rigsy escape through a window using a hanging chair. During the escape, Danny Pink calls Clara as she is late for their meeting in London. The Doctor overhears the call and knows that Clara has lied, both to Danny about discontinuing her travels with the Doctor, and to the Doctor in affirming Danny's acceptance of her traveling with the Doctor. In the Forest of the Night Clara Oswald and Danny Pink, taking a number of Coal Hill students on an overnight stay at the London Natural History Museum, wake up to find that London, as well as the rest of the globe, has suddenly been covered by forests in a matter of hours. The Doctor learns of this when one of Clara's students, Maebh, finds his TARDIS parked in the forest-covered Trafalgar Square and witnesses the change. The Doctor calls Clara to confirm their situation, causing Danny to react resentfully upon finding out Clara still secretly keeps in contact with him. Clara and Danny lead the group to Trafalgar Square to reunite with the Doctor. As they talk about the trees, the Doctor suspects that the only way the trees could have grown was due to the influence of time. They all board the TARDIS and, as the Doctor works with the controls, Danny finds Maebh's notebooks filled with pictures of an angry sun striking down trees. Clara explains that Maebh's sister Annabel had disappeared a year prior leaving Maebh traumatized, and she has been on special medication that quieted voices in her head. The Doctor realises that Maebh is central to the appearance of the forest, the condition allowing her to tune to some other communication frequency. When they see Maebh is not with the rest of the children, the Doctor and Clara race out to find her.

They find Maebh has dropped personal items along the path to allow her to be followed. They encounter a government service team trying to burn a path through the forest but the trees are able to control the oxygen nearby to prevent them from being burnt. As they continue along, the Doctor explains to Clara that Maebh's drawings show a giant solar flare, similar to the one that destroyed the Bank of Karabraxos shown in "Time Heist", that he confirmed is occurring presently and is due to strike the Earth that day. The Doctor is curious as to why Maebh knows this. Read More! (Caution spoilers!)

Dark Water Clara is talking on her phone to Danny Pink, ready to admit she has been travelling with the Doctor and that she sincerely loves Danny, when the line goes silent. A stranger picks up and sadly informs Clara that Danny was hit by a passing car and has died.

She struggles with his death for days, unwilling to let her emotions go. She ultimately schemes to force the Doctor to change the past. She suggests that they visit an active volcano, secretly collects all seven TARDIS keys and, after the TARDIS arrives, slaps a sleep-inducing patch on the Doctor's neck. Once the Doctor wakes up at the volcano, locked out of the TARDIS, Clara throws the keys one by one into the lava - the only way to destroy them. She says she will not stop unless the Doctor agrees to save Danny, despite his claim that it would create a time paradox. The Doctor, however, refuses and Clara destroys all of the keys, tearfully saying she would do it again. The Doctor eventually reveals that the entire scenario was only a hypnotic vision of hers. The patch did not work on him; instead, he had used it on her to learn why she was upset and to see how far she was willing to go. He then offers-as a friend, despite her betrayal of him-to see if they can locate Danny in the afterlife and rescue him. Read More! (Caution spoilers!)

Death in Heaven Continuing from "Dark Water", Clara Oswald is trapped with a Cyberman in the headquarters of 3W in St Paul's Cathedral. As it tries to kill her due to her irrelevance, she manages to stop its attack by stating she is really the Doctor.

Outside, the Doctor reels from the revelation that Missy, the woman controlling the Cybermen, is a female incarnation of the Master. The public appears unconcerned by the arrival of the Cybermen, but UNIT, led by Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, turn up and surround the Doctor, Missy, and her group of Cybermen. The Cybermen take to the air using built-in leg jets and scatter over the British Isles. Missy reveals that 91 Cybermen - one for every major population area in the United Kingdom - have been released from St Paul's to explode over graveyards in each populated area, releasing 'Cyberpollen' that will resurrect the dead as Cybermen. Similar events occur all over the the world. UNIT renders both Missy and the Doctor unconscious and takes them into custody. Read More! (Caution spoilers!)

Last Christmas (the 2014 Christmas special) On Christmas Eve, Clara Oswald is woken up by the sound of something crashing on her rooftop. Investigating nearby voices, she is astonished to find Santa Claus, two elves, a sleigh and flying reindeer stranded on her roof. The Doctor soon arrives to take Clara away, but not before Santa tells him that he will need his help before the night is over, while promising him a tangerine.

At the North Pole, a group of scientists attempt to save their fellow base personnel, who have been taken over by crab-like creatures. Their effort is interrupted as the Doctor and Clara arrive on the scene. While introductions are being made, however, they come under attack from the crabs, only to be rescued by Santa, who also provides a specimen of one of the creatures. The Doctor identifies the creatures as Dream Crabs - aliens that induce pleasant, euphoric dreams on their intended victims as a distraction whilst the crabs devour their brains. Read More!
